Everyone has their own point of time while choosing their own career. There are many career options that come across in your life. Your well wishers like teachers, friends, parents, guardians and many more will try to guide you in choosing a better career and some will follow their career suggestion. It is better to choose a right field for you which you are interested in.

If you are interested to get into the medical field and don’t like to be a Doctor, you can always have a better career option to become a Phlebotomist. The role of phlebotomy technician is to manage blood banks, take tests and make reports for blood donors and patients.

Phlebotomist is considered to be a respected profession. A phlebotomist works in shifts about forty hours a week same as doctors excluding emergencies. He or she must be good in communication skills as they have to communicate well with patients and hospital staffs. A Phlebotomist must be familiar with managing physical fluids as well as transportation along with rules of testing drugs.

In olden days, the process of collecting blood from a person’s body was very painful as they use to cut or notch the vein to collect blood for examination. This process was only done by experts as they had lot of knowledge and skills.  But, nowadays blood is simply removed by inserting a needle or syringe.

Whenever we visit hospital for a routine physical checkup or blood test, we come across Phlebotomy technician for sure. We need a Phlebotomist to confirm our blood group, to detect any disease or for blood transfusion.

Phlebotomy Training and Certification:

To be a Phlebotomist, one must go through the phlebotomy training classes. The duration of phlebotomy training course is about 4 months to one year. To be eligible to become a Phlebotomist, one should have a diploma in high school or the same. One can get trained as a Phlebotomy through technical colleges, Hospitals, vocational schools, nursing homes as well as medical centers. Once training is completed, he/she can start their career working as a Phlebotomist. Working as a Phlebotomist is itself a matter of gratification apart from monetary gains and promotions.

To pursue a Phlebotomy training program there are various certification courses available. Phlebotomy certification exams are conducted by various institutes like ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists), AAMP (American Association of Medical Personnel) and AMT (American Medical Technologists). As a phlebotomist, you can be paid from $26,710 till $48,610 per annum.

There are many career opportunities in this competitive world. But when you choose Phlebotomy as a career, it is a good option for you to work honestly and serve the mankind which makes you feel blessed and pride.
